Yeah for Family!

IMG_5542Scott’s mom came in town while Scott’s Dad was in Africa.  What a treat to have her!  While she was here we went to the Pacific Science Center (Susanna frequently demonstrates the slow moving neck movement that she learned dinosaurs do from the slow moving robotically animated dinosaurs there), we went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, we celebrated Chinese New Year with Indian Food, and celebrated Scott’s birthday with Dianne’s homemade (and very excellent) Chinese chicken and cashews and his favorite “22-minute cake” (which I never make him; thank goodness for moms, right?).  We had a wonderful time and very much enjoyed her company.  Here she’s reading a book to Susanna that she bought her on another trip when we went to the Aquarium.  It’s always a party with Dianne!

Happy Birthday to my Main Man

IMG_5561

Yeah for Scott; it’s his birthday!  I really can’t say enough about the love of my life: he makes living so wonderfully fun!  I truly am grateful for all he is and does.  Perhaps especially lately when I’ve been not quite as energetic as usual and he has not only exhibited his great patience, but also really stepped in where we’ve needed him.  Thanks, Scott!

To spare you, I’ll stop there and tell you about the gift Susanna made for him As his birthday approached, I talked with IMG_5556Susanna about what she might give him and she was absolutely set on a shaker (we talked about it on several different occasions and this was definitely what she wanted to give him).  So she and I gathered some small lentils, rice, fruit loops snagged from the Laurel Village un-birthday party, and other things along with two plastic cups and and voila! Scott’s birthday gift from Susanna!  IMG_5594

This photograph on the right is what happened when I asked Susanna to let me take a photograph of she and dad with the gift.  Allow me to direct your attention to the top left of the frame where you’ll see the shaker, airborne.

I took this close-up on the left so you could getter a better idea what it looks like.

V is for Volcano

As mentioned in previous posts (4/25/08 and 5/27/08), we are slowly moving through the alphabet at our home.  Well, we’ve been learning about “v” recently, so Susanna and I made a little volcano.  We had a good time; here are some photographs.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday.  We hope that the miracle of Christ’s birth brought you joy this holiday season, and that it will continue to bring you joy throughout the year.

And a happy new year to you all!  Here’s to a time of rebirth, renewal, and renewed commitment.

Here is an unrelated story (related, I suppose, in that it takes place today, on New Year’s Day):

Scott just went to check on Susanna and the poor girl was completely naked, snuggled up with her beloved stuffed kitty and white thermal blanket.  I promise she had clothes on when we left her, in fact, she has clothes on every time we put her to bed, but she somehow always ends up like this.
