A visit from mom (in-law)!

Scott's mother Dianne came to visit for a few days and we headed south to visit Seattle's mountain. It was a pleasure to have her come-- and not only because she payed for everything her entire visit-- she was a great house-guest and we had a wonderful time together.

I've included a shot of Susanna chatting with her cousin (who is just a month younger than her) because she joined our party for a couple of days as well (I confess, until Dianne got here I hardly left the confines of our home with the twins).

A visit from David & Miranda

My brother David and his wife Miranda just moved from Salt Lake City to Concord, New Hampshire and decided to visit us on the way! It was just wonderful to get to spend some time with them: they are great people, and very fun! And we especially appreciate the efforts to come in that it was most certainly out of the way.

Hooray for Dads!

Here are three photographs that I love to show you the dad in our home that I also love. He's a wonderful man, a loving husband, and a very very good father.

I want also to pay tribute to my own dad; a wonderful man who is very firm and steadfast in matters of character and faith but tender and sweet in matters of the heart.

My beautiful and very fun sister Rachel graduated from High School this spring. Rachel is on the right in this photograph; I'm in the middle and my father is on the left; this was taken Easter of 2007 (we got the blue lipstick from the delightful candies that show up that time of year) Congratulations to her and congratulations to my parents who have made it through their children's high school years (she's the last one!).

The age of hairstyles

Susanna now has enough hair that I can now "do" it. I see little girls with a lot less hair than Susanna who have cute hairdos all the time, so I may be a bit delayed at this (I never claimed to be good at doing girls' hair-- including my own). But either way, it's fun. So to celebrate (and to keep all of you who never see her in the loop), I am showing you the various hairstyles that we chose from these days.

Cycling Country

So it turns out that Seattle is a great place for cycling! We have been riding our bikes since we moved here, but it wasn't until this Summer, motivated by the forthcoming STP, that we discovered the many beautiful areas to ride in Western Washington. This photograph (which I copied from "Robin's Blog" at http://robinwall.com/?p=24), is of a fairly typical view from Carnation Farm Road, a road we cycled on last Saturday, perhaps our most beautiful ride to date. But I think the best part of training is that it has gotten us outside without Susanna. And our Saturday rides, which are four to six hours spent rambling around Western Washington together, are just sublime.
